Nick Resnick

Chief Executive Officer

As Chief Executive Officer at Inquiry By Design, Nick oversees the strategic direction of the company, ensuring that IBD’s innovative curriculum and services effectively address educational inequities across diverse school districts. Nick’s 15+ years in K-12 education include roles as a classroom teacher, instructional coach, and site administrator, where he gained firsthand experience in supporting both students and educators. He has also served as an improvement coach in Title I districts and has expertise in scaling educational initiatives. Driven by a passion for equity and culturally relevant education, Nick is dedicated to creating programs that ensure all students have access to high-quality learning experiences. Outside of work, Nick enjoys spending time with his family.

Tammy Baumann, PhD

Chief Product Officer

Tammy is an innovative and dedicated educational leader with 20+ years of experience in the K–12 education ecosystem. Dr. Baumann joined Inquiry By Design as the Chief Product Officer having held managerial and executive roles for educational companies for 9+ years. At IBD, her primary responsibility is driving the conceptualization, development, and delivery of educational products and services. A strategic thinker, Tammy has developed product and market strategy, expanded organizational partnership portfolios, lead change management, and designed and implemented product systems. She is passionate about launching innovative products in the educational ecosystem that make a difference for teachers and students. Tammy is an avid reader, loves to cook and bake, and spends any spare time in the great outdoors.

Karee Galloway

Managing Director of Publishing Operations

As Managing Director of Publishing Operations, Karee oversees the final phase of curriculum development, moving student and teacher materials through editorial review, page design, production, printing, and final delivery. With a primary focus on quality content development, Karee brings more than 25 years of experience in educational publishing, including work in K-12, college, and trade nonfiction. A longtime employee of Inquiry By Design, Karee never tires of hearing stories about the “IBD aha”—that moment when teachers realize their students just made sense of a text they really weren’t sure they were capable of reading. Outside of work, Karee enjoys longform journalism, books, podcasts, movies, gardening, hiking, and exploring new places near and far.

Dean Guzman

Managing Director of Sales and Marketing

Dean leads the sales and marketing teams at Inquiry By Design, bringing a wealth of experience from his time in the classroom in Los Angeles to working in the central district office in New York City. His strategic district planning background helps ensure that educators and students can maximize Inquiry By Design in their classrooms. As the son of immigrants, Dean is deeply committed to providing all students with access to a rigorous, culturally relevant curriculum. Outside of work, Dean enjoys exploring the world of coffee, competing in fantasy football and basketball, and relaxing with his wife, Dani, and their dog, Appa, while binge-watching K-Dramas on the weekends.

John Luke Bell, EdD

Director of Curriculum

Committed to a lifetime of literacy problem-solving, Luke is excited to engage teachers, leaders, and policymakers in conversations about the future of equitable and excellent education. As Director of Curriculum, Dr. Bell is focused on developing high-quality instructional materials that help all kids grow as fluent readers, effective writers, and critical thinkers. Luke has served as an English teacher, instructional coach, curriculum coordinator, and design leader across organizations supporting instructional change at scale. He also contributes to the field with ongoing evaluation and inspection consultation to improve instructional materials, professional learning, and educator preparation programs. Dr. Bell shares Inquiry By Design’s belief that complexity is for everyone and knows when students learn to read they can learn to love reading. He is a proud graduate of the University of Tennessee and Vanderbilt University.

Cara Zatoris, MEd

Senior Manager of Curriculum

As Senior Manager of Curriculum, Cara leads the curriculum design team, collaborating closely with colleagues to develop, review, and refine the English Language Arts (ELA) curriculum. With a decade of experience as a high school ELA teacher, followed by nine years as a district instructional developer and content specialist, Cara brings a wealth of expertise to her role. Prior to joining Inquiry By Design, she worked at an EdTech organization, where she focused on literacy, curriculum development, and supporting school partnerships. Driven by a passion for educational equity, Cara was drawn to IBD for its commitment to ensuring all students engage with complex texts and meaningful learning experiences. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time in nature and recently adopted a Carolina dog named Tati.

Skylar DeVos, MEd

Senior Content Designer

As Senior Content Designer, Skylar ensures that Inquiry By Design’s curriculum, materials, and professional learning support teachers and students in collaborative work around rich, engaging, challenging texts. Skylar previously taught middle and high school English using IBD materials in his own classroom, and is also a reading specialist with a Master’s Degree in Reading Education from Vanderbilt University. In all of these roles, he has sought to draw students into vibrant, personally meaningful discussions with each other and the authors they read. Skylar lives outside of Nashville with his wife, children, and pets, and enjoys learning new hobbies like restoring vintage audio gear.

Hannah McKeeth, MA

Manager of Multilingual & Spanish Content

Hannah is a bilingual educational leader with over 15 years of experience in K-12 education, specializing in student-centered literacy through multilingual and culturally relevant curriculum initiatives in both English and Spanish. She has held roles as a Dual Language Teacher, Instructional Coach, and Curriculum Coordinator, focusing on diverse and multilingual learning environments. Sharing Inquiry By Design’s commitment to equitable, culturally relevant literacy, she is dedicated to fostering a love of reading through complex, engaging texts. Originally from Panama, Hannah is passionate about promoting bilingualism, biliteracy, and biculturalism to honor students’ identities and support their growth in a globally connected world. Outside of work, she enjoys family hikes, exploring bookstores, and collecting beautiful children’s literature.
