About This Position

Inquiry By Design is seeking a Curriculum Designer/Writer to contribute to the revision of our 6-12 English Language Arts (ELA) curriculum. The Curriculum Designer/Writer works closely with product leadership to develop instructional content, assessments, and teacher resources. The ideal candidate has a strong background in 6-12 ELA instruction and assessment, experience with curriculum product development, and a commitment to supporting excellent teaching and learning of English Language Arts.

In This Role You Will Be:

  • Writing and editing unit- and lesson-level manuscripts
  • Meeting regularly (sprints and stand-ups) throughout the development and revision cycles.
  • Developing assessment tasks, scaffolding and differentiation recommendations, standards-alignment documentation, and other similar needs.
  • Demonstrating a strong understanding of secondary literacy (pedagogy, instruction, assessment, differentiation)
  • Providing and implementing feedback
  • Producing high-quality, error-free deliverables that meet project deadlines, specifications, and standards.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 2+ years of experience in teaching ELA and/or coaching educators in Grade 6 to Grade 12
  • Strong knowledge and a pragmatic approach to developing high-quality instructional materials (HQIM) for secondary literacy.
  • Fluency with academic standards, design expectations for HQIM, and components of knowledge-building curriculum
  • Excellent skill and comfort with technology-based productivity tools, including Slack, Google Applications, and video conferencing programs (Google Meet, Zoom)
  • Exceptional interpersonal and written/oral communication skills
  • Proven time management skills when managing multiple tasks
  • Passionate about ELA curriculum development
  • Experience receiving and enacting feedback

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in teaching and/or coaching educators in a school or district
  • Experience working with diverse student populations
  • Experience writing or editing ELA curriculum materials
  • Availability Monday – Friday, preferably within 8:00 am – 5:00 pm ET

Compensation and Benefits

This is a full time (40 hours per week) contractor role open to applicants authorized to work for any employer within the United States, with an end date of 9/31/2025. The pay range for this position is between $49,500 – $70,000 annually, however, pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This position does not include health benefits.
